Let it die, there are all kind of forums out there and scpmc was dead or dieing anyway. If you want a good one for your local rides, make one and sent a PM out to the current members on scpmc, all 7 of them.

just hate to see it go away - not that anyone really rides street much anymore.
i'll probably toss something up, i'd just rather preserve scpmc (and it's content and membership) but john owns the name and the data.

sucks that its going as thats where mostly all of us met, but none of us really ride on the street anymore since we got to the track....aside from a few of you guys in in the bedford area

You know, we had this big pow-wow in the fall, John, Aaron and I. Went to dinner together, decided what was going to happen to SCPMC, etc.
John was to continue owning the name and hosting it, he was supposed to give me server access and admin privilages. He never did either. Aaron did give me admin privilages later.
Now John shows up and says the gig is up - WTF? He did not say a word to me or Aaron about this. He's had his head up his ass with personal issues and that's fine but to just say "oh well, I'm gonna take my ball and go home" is pretty weak.
I asked him over there is he's will to hand over the domain name. I am not even about to pay money for it. I do have a copy of the database so I can replicate the board under a different domain on one of my servers or under SCPMC.net if he coughs it up for free.
Sometimes people just make me wonder.

I say let it go, already on this site there is more activity and we see new members enough that we'll continue to grow. Getting the word out about this site will get us plenty of people for local rides for us guys who still ride street too.

Here's my PM exchange with John regarding the site:
My PM to John:
John,
Bill and I spoke about this and here is what we propose:
1. You allow transfer of the SCPMC.net domain name to either me or Bill.
2. I will set up phpBB on one of my servers and import the database
3. For any emails that you have attached to SCPMC.net you can provide me a list and I will set up forwarding from the new server to what ever address(s) you choose outside of it. Sorry but I cannot allow POP(s) for you on the new server.
4. Once we have everything up and running on the new server I will transfer name servers to my host and notify you so that you can cancel any hosting arrangements you have for SCPMC.net
If you are OK with the above let me know ASAP and I will initiate the domain name transfer.

Well....let me start off the mail with a hello. I'm unsure why but your message REALLY leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Perhaps it's because you phrase it as your are negotiating a business deal oppose to a group of friends working on something that everyone is passionate about.....
I think it over, will get back to you. As i mentioned before.....and PM'ed Bill, I'm not in a super rush to get the site off of the current server. I need some time to handle the e-mail situation. I'll let you know.
My Followup:
It's not about being a business deal, etc. It's just about getting it done and over with. You had said that you were going to give me admin privilages and server access when we met in the fall. You never followed up on either. Aaron did give me admin access later. You just happened to show up out of the blue this weekend to tell everyone that you were taking your ball and going home...
I don't have the time to mess with this for weeks so I provided the steps required to get everything done.
BTW, real class move to whack my admin privilages

Taking my ball and going home...you really are something else. I'd much rather put the site down then hand it over to someone that can't even approach me and take discussions in a professional manner while handing someone just a tad bit of respect.

Mike, i think it would be better if you just start a fresh new site of your own. It would be easier and totally separate from all the BS SCPMC will have tied to it.
Give it a generic name so you attract different riders on different bikes from different areas.
We are on many other forums so its easy to give it some exposure.
Oh, what a dick john is.
