YAMAHA’S 1000cc M1 has made its public debut in the hands of Ben Spies and Jorge Lorenzo at the Brno circuit.
Spies was the first to test the next generation M1, lapping Brno at 1:56.306 and only 46 thousandths off the fastest time, at 1pm, set by Casey Stoner in his second test of the 1000cc Honda.
Reigning champion Jorge Lorenzo spent the majority of the morning focusing on a revised engine for the current 800cc YZR-M1. Moving on to the new 1000cc bike, the Spaniard is third fastest on the timesheets and .467 off Stoner’s time.
