This seems like a silly question, but how tilted can the "eye" portion of the lap timer be and still see the beacon? The gix has no flat surfaces up front and I have the short cord. I currently have it on the ram air tube but it points down at about a 30 degree angle, is that too far down? The manual says pointed slightly down is ok, but I don't know how slightly is slightly.

Nice, so is yours pointed down a bit too or did you move it back so its just half sitting on there and pointed level?

I have the short corded model also. You can order a replacement cable of longer length from XT by giving them a call. You just need to know if your cable has the white or the black ends. The cords regardless of length are $15.
