do you actually need dual temp ones? isn't the lower setting for rains?
Jr. I think the ones you got were the "cheap" version from ChickenHawk - they work OK? What did you pay for them?

Jr. and i both have Suzuka's and they got bought out by chicken hawk over winter 08/09 we got them from moon for 275 for the set (dual temp) during his end of year sale. Retail on them from suzuka were 465, looks like chicken hawk sells the dual temp suzuka's on his web site now for $350. All warranty stuff goes through chicken hawk now
Your stand by temp is for between sessions like lunch when you have a good hour and so downtime. You don't need them baking at 175 degree's that long, also with wera i use this between my practices and usually between last practice and my race.
If you plan on doing track days only you can get away with just a single temp
There really is no point running warmers on rains because they loose all the temp as soon as you start rolling on the grid.
I would avoid the ones that have the blanket and the heating element as 2 seperate items, that would just be a pain in the ass. The suzuka's and newer chicken hawks are all in 1.

pretty much what kyle said
dual temps are nice, but i would say not 100% needed just for trackdays. the suzukas are ok, but i think im going to go with the regular CH's next time.

the only reason i'm thinking about getting a set is to reduce heat cycles and prolong tire life - assuming that's a valid assumption. first lap out for an old slow fucker like me is slow enough that it does not really matter if they are up to temp when i roll out of the pits or not.

its a valid assumption, and the fact you can go from the start is nice as well. no wasted track time taking it easy to warm up the tires

actually i would buy woodcraft tire bakers or the Chicken Hawks. the suzukas dont impress me enough even for the price

Reducing the heat cycles is key, def going to help the tire last longer Agree with junior for 300 just drop another 100 or so for the chicken hawks. I like the suzuka's i have not had a problem with them, for 275 it was money well spent for me. Jr. keeps having all types of problems with them so i can see his point of view  _________________

Not to keep harping on this but getting bumped and faster first laps have me thinking about warmers again (as well as the wrecks last weekend clearly due to cold tires).
Why would you switch to the cooler setting on a dual temp warmer when you're off the bike for say an hour or more as Kyle said? Sorry if it's a dumb question.

i now have tire warmers.  i have the CH single temp, got them in the deal with my bike. I was talking to Shawn at the shop about them. he said he puts the warmers on after the session to keep the temp in the tires but doesn't turn them on until 20 before going out. I am going use them more for going balls out confidence on the first lap rather than reducing heat cycles. http://www.chickenhawkracing.com/motorcycles.php
