I'm swapping my oil and filter every 2, I'm sure it's over kill but it's sort of cheap insurance.
Used to be really cheap w/rotella & purolator but with a shitzuki it's hard to find a good, cheap aftermarket filter like the pureone...

I do mine after 3-4 days.

On a side note, I found with my gixxer that maintenance on it was a pain in the arse a lot of time because Suzuki had to use something different than everybody else (different part, size, etc).

yeah, their filters have a different threat pitch from most other normal people....
in looking at my recent past bikes the zzr, r1, and 675 all take excellent purolator 14610/2 which I can buy for like $4 per on line - they also fit my wrx and my parents' altima. purolator only makes their bottom end (not well rated) filter for suzuki so you're sort of screwed into buying their OE one.

Since I use my bike for both the street and the track...for every trackday I do I knock 1000 miles off my interval. Since I do oil changes every 3K, this month it will be at 2K since doing Beaverun. My bike has 35K miles on it and that's been the way I have been doing it with no problems at all since new.

No cross-over to purolator?

I know there is a cross-over for the yamaha's to purolator.

Also just buy a few at a time with oil from Ron Ayers dot com. Their filters run about $4 cheaper than your local dealer and then just buy your oil with it and they ship everything together.
