Hey guys as of now I guess you could call me a street twisty whore lol. This is my first summer with a bike but ive already made it through a couple bikes and ive finally landed one im happy with...an 03 R1. Ive been riding hard all summer and im hoping this winter to get my bike track ready along with my friend (06 600RR). I guess my main questions and concerns are im on a college budget so what are the essentials I should get done this winter?

As of now the R1 has:
Devil CF stacked exhaust
PC3 tuned by Fuel-Moto
Frame Sliders
Renthal Grips (REALLY REALLY HARD!! and dont like them)
BMC Filter
Goodridge SS braided brake lines
Zero Gravity race windscreen
Pirelli Diablo Corsa Tires

Any help and suggestions is welcome!

I guess this is what im looking at:
Vesrah RJL Front Brake Pads
Chain/ Sprocket Kit
Grips
Bar Ends
ClipOns
Rearsets
New Exhaust
Tires

Look good? Help on brands? Keep in mind i need money for track time ;)

P.S. sorry for being a newb

Welcome to the board :toocool:

Honestly all you need is to get out there and not parts. Your bike will be more than enough for quite some time.
Just make sure you have a fairly new set of good tires, good gear and get out to the track. Worry about the parts as you get faster and find a real need for them.

I'm a fan of Driven gel grips personally, very nice and comfy but they don't last worth a shit.

I agree with Mike. For your first few track days you will not need any special parts. Save your money on parts and buy good gear (which if you do not already have will be expensive enough) and tires. If you start doing TDs enough, you will always be buying tires.

Welcome and look forward to seeing you at the track.

Thanks guys I will start looking into some gear! Any suggestions on that? I was looking at Alpinestar and it looked like they had some pretty damn nice ones for around $500. There is one more track day left this year at a track about an hour from my house so im hopefully gona be checking that out. And since my exhaust is cf should i try to replace that? Maybe pick up something used and aluminum to use for the track?

Don't worry about your exhaust - just don't wreck :crash:
If you have an unforutnate situation odds are the can will take a hit regardless of material. If you are really worried about it just pick up a stock can for next to nothing and put it on for track days. You can always gut it if you are looking for noise.

So far as gear:

Most track orgs will require 1 or 2 piece leathers. Some allow textile suits in begginer groups but I'd stick to leather. If you get 2 piece leathers they have to be the type that zip together all the way around. A*s is a good place to start. There are some other quality brands as well. None cheap. $500 is right around the starting point for suits.
You will need gauntlet type gloves. I'm a huge fan of Help Phantoms.
You will need boots. Sidi, A*s, etc. are good.
Obviously a DOT approved full face helmet.
A back protector is a good idea as well.

If you do not have swingarm spools on your bike get a set and a rear stand. And like Nate said tires. If you are running regular Corsas now, consider switching over to the Corsa III.

Where are you located and what organization are you looking to ride with?

I know NESBA runs there a couple times a year but I don't think they will be there any more this year. I don't think STT does? Not sure. Not sure about TPM either.
I'm guessing a smaller, more local track org probably runs there quite a bit. It's a very nice facility.
