Not on hte track bike but.... Just riding along, went to pass a few cars on the R1, pulled back into the lane and went to shit up and SNAP - no shifter.... Pulled over with the bike in 5th. Used the POS pliers from the tool kit to shift it into second so I could limp home. Luckely only about 8 miles. $50 to replace the damn piece of shit and no bike till Friday. the reason i posted this here (not on my track bike) is because I think this is an inherent issue with the Vortex design for the 07/08 R1. They offset the shift rod to go around the frame as opposed to going through the frame like OE or some of the other companies. They provide a longer bolt and a plastic bushing to attach the rod to the shit arm about 2" further out than OE. This creates a lot of rotational force on the arm for which it is not designed and thus I think this is why it snapped.
