Maybe it is just me, but do others find it difficult to keep up with all the various tire options available for their sportbike? I do not know a whole lot about the different tires available, but some of you guys seem to really be able to keep up with this. Would anyone mind putting together a chart that has the following:

-Manufacturer across the top
-Riding style down the side (street, track, racing, etc) - one tire may fall into several styles
-And then fill in the blocks to say which model tire for the manufacturer, and its going price

This would help someone like me who may be interested in trying a different brand but has only run Pirelli DC3 to be able to quickly look and understand what tire in the other brand is comparable.

Maybe if I get some time I'll try and do this, but I am not up to date on all the different types of racing tires and compounds.

List of common brands: Bridgestone, Dunlop, Continentals, Michelin, Pirelli (feel free to add any I missed)

Normally Sport Rider Magazine puts a article out once a year with a tire shootout. Your right if your not a person that switches alot you can get lost.

I sort of get into ruts with a given tire and stay there...
I used to do it with cars where I've always been a big michelin fan with PS2's on the street and PSC on the track. I am not a fan of P-Zero's at all - the street or r-comp versions.
On the bike I've been a Pirelli guy for a long time. CIII's on the street, Dragons/Diablos on the track. I don't like PP's at all on the bike. I've never run PR's so I don't know there.
In the end tires are pretty personal thing. At the pace any of the guys currently posting here run likely just about any DOT will do. Probably for anyone other than Jr. high end street tires are enough.
I'm running Dragons. Do I need them? No. Do they give me a sense of confidence that I don't get with street tires, Yes. Is it justified, most likely no. But, if I'm out there playing at the track I want to "believe" in my bike. It's just like a religious thing. Most people know it's all bullshit but still pay lip service. Same for me with tires.

Diablo corsa - Track tire (2009 top model) compounds the same

Sport attacks - Street/track (comparable to the DCIII)
Race attacks - track tire (compounds soft - hard)

Qualifiers - street/track (comparable to DCIII)
209 - Track tire (AMA tire) compounds soft-hard
211 Ntec - Track tire (top of the line) compounds soft-hard

Bridgestone
BT016 - street/track (comparable to DCIII)
BT002 RS - a hybrid street track tire (somewhere between a full street and full track tire, no compounds offered) ****** 002RS will be replaced with 003 RS summer of 09
BT003 - Track tire (compounds soft-hard) 003 is the replacement for the 002 which has been discountinued.

Michelin
Pilot power (ie tibs sweet love) - Street/Track (would put this below the DCIII)
Pilot Power 2CT- Street/track dual compound technology (comparable to DCIII)
Power Race - track (so many different compound codes i have no fucking clue)
Power Race one - Track (the latest and greatest track tire from michelin) again so many fucked up compound codes i don't know

Metzler (made by Pirelli)
M3 - Street/ Track (comparable to DCIII)
Racetec - Track ( K1 super soft, K2 soft)



As for prices your on you own boss, i buy tires when i get deals on them

I know some of you guys have run the Continental Race Attacks, and word on the Sport Attacks? Would be interested in trying them considering the prices compared to the others.

Im running the sport attacks. i like them a good bit. Now Im not near as fast as some of you guys on here,,,but for my needs (road and track) they are great.

race attacks - isn't that what Jr. wasted in like 3 session at beaver the last time we were there last year?

yeah i ran them when i cold tore them to shit. i ran them again this past weekend at summit and was very impressed. ran a 120/190 combo. soft front/medium rear. i will be using these for WERA fwiw
